.Is North India cheating South India? South Indian states pay more tax but get less in return, despite better GDP, education, and lower population. For every 100 rupees of direct tax Karnataka pays, the state receives 13.9 rupees, while north Indian states get 333 rupees (UP) and 922 rupees (Bihar). The perverse incentive system increases population growth, limiting political power in the Lok Sabha and no say in money bills. The 15th finance commission divides tax revenue by income distance, which unfairly favors North India.
