Nipah Virus Kerala News: The Kerala Health Department has sounded a health alert in Kozhikode district. The alert was sounded following two "unnatural" deaths suspected to be due to the Nipah virus infection. State Health Minister Veena George held a high-level meeting and reviewed the situation, the health department said in a statement. Nipah is a zoonotic virus that can spread from animals to humans and then among humans. A Nipah infection can cause problems ranging from respiratory issues to fatal encephalitis.
