In today’s episode of Figuring Out, Raj talks with Ashneer Grover, he was MD, and Co-Founder of BharatPe and now he is building his new startup Third Unicorn. He is also among the judges in the reality show Shark Tank India. He has completed his graduation from IIT Delhi and MBA from Indian IIM Ahmedabad.

Ashneer shares that it is really ironic that Bira has been his biggest portfolio investment even when he is nowhere near drinking! He elucidates why he left 9-5 work and joined an entrepreneurial venture and explains why the MRP of a product is problematic for India.

Ashneer shares his experience of working with different companies and startups like Kotak Investment Banking, Amex, Grofers, etc. and talks about his experience of being a part of Shark Tank India.

Ashneer explains how can one build a brand in India with an example of his own experience of building BharatPe. He also discusses some fundamentals that should be clear to anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur.

To learn more about building a brand, scaling a business, Shark Tank India, etc., watch the video till the end!

What's my story? An engineer, in love with his job, started teaching on the side. Got lucky. Impacted 1000s of lives. Had to finally leave his job to increase the impact surface area. Raised $5M funding to fix education. Is learning day and day about startups and building a valuable product.

How is it going? A decade of engineering helps in systems thinking and product building. Learning about Strategy, Marketing, People Management, and Finance on the go.

What am I building? Today, 25 million Indians prepare for government job entrance exams. They do it for years together. The probability of success is less than 1% but they still do it. Why? For the lack of a structured alternative to launch their white-collar career. I am building Invact to bridge this gap.
How? Follow me to know, it's a long story. I am telling it in parts every day.

I already have a wishlist for the next generation Apple Vision Pro

Lyrics:
Home alone, tryin' not to eat
Distract myself with pornography
I hate the way she looks at me
I can't stand the dialogue, she would never be
That satisfied, it's a male fantasy
I'm going back to therapy

'Cause I loved you then and I love you now
And I don't know how
Guess it's hard to know when nobody else comes around
If I'm getting over you
Or just pretending to
Be alright, convince myself I hate you

I got a call from a girl I used to know
We were inseparable years ago
Thought we'd get along but it wasn't so
And it's all I think about when I'm behind the wheel
I worry this is how I'm always gonna feel
But nothing lasts, I know the deal

But I loved you then and I love you now
And I don't know how
Guess it's hard to know when nobody else comes around
If I'm getting over you
Or just pretending to
Be alright, convince myself I hate you

Can't get over you
No matter what I do
I know I should but I could never hate you
