Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Michaelia Cash says the Air India aircraft which crashed moments ago is the “worst possible nightmare come true”.

A plane carrying more than 240 people has crashed just moments after taking off from Ahmedabad airport in India.

Flight AI171 was set to land at London's Gatwick Airport on Thursday night local time.

The biggest plane crash has occurred in Ahmedabad. A plane flying from Ahmedabad to London crashed in a residential area. There were 242 passengers on board.

One doctor and six migrant workers were killed after terrorists opened fire at a construction site in the Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening, officials said. The attack occurred near an under-construction tunnel, they said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched massive counter operations to hunt down the terrorists.

According to initial reports, the doctor and workers attacked were part of the construction team working on the Z-Morh tunnel, which connects Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district

अहमदाबाद में एयर इंडिया का एक बोइंग 787 ड्रीमलाइनर विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया, जिसमें 230 यात्रियों समेत कुल 242 लोग सवार थे. डीजीसीए के अनुसार, कैप्टन सुमित सबरवाल ने टेकऑफ के तुरंत बाद 'मेडे' कॉल किया था, जो जानलेवा खतरे को सूचित करता है. यह विमान अहमदाबाद से लंदन जा रहा था और हादसे के बाद एक रिहायशी इलाके में गिरा, जिसके बाद प्रधानमंत्री ने गृहमंत्री से बात की और नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री अहमदाबाद के लिए रवाना हो गए. विमान उड़ान भरने के कुछ ही मिनटों में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होकर आग के गोले में तब्दील हो गया. इस हादसे में 53 ब्रिटिश नागरिकों समेत कई विदेशी यात्री सवार थे और भारी जानमाल के नुकसान की आशंका है; बचाव कार्य जारी है.
